For decades, The Inwood was a trendy venue for prominent bands and teen hops. We soon became well known as a place for romance, good times, and generational memories. Long before E-Harmony, people were finding their perfect match at Inwood events. Generations of families have met and been married here and still return to celebrate anniversaries and other special events. We have also earned a reputation as a unique, charming wedding and family celebration venue. We feature an iconic 10-sided hardwood dance floor, stone fireplaces, and latticed ceilings.
This vintage ballroom sits on the banks of the Turkey River in the quaint historical Czech town of Spillville. When we began, there was very little money. Many people pitched in to build the first dance floor—an open bowery (platform). Weekly dances were inexpensive, and The Inwood was the place to be on Tuesday and especially Thursday nights. Over the years, The Inwood has been updated and well maintained. We are proud to say that it is one the oldest of the few remaining ballrooms in Iowa.
The Inwood is located in Riverside Park, where you will find a campground, picnic area, playground, horseshoe pits, frisbee golf, lighted ball diamond, and plenty of parking.
